Springtime
It is spring in CNY. The ground is thawing, green is starting to come back into the scenery. As a NY girl, person and therapist, I've come to appreciate the great outdoors, the change of seasons and what each of them can offer us.
As seasons come and go, there are some things I like to pause and meditate on in springtime: Walking outside to the gentle chirping of birds. The air that is crisp and invigorating, with hints of warmth. The fluctuation in temperature as it toys between winter and spring. When we look around, we're greeted by the sight of green, with plants beginning to poke their heads through the earth.
Springtime in Upstate NY can be a time for renewal, new energy, and a change in our routines. There's no better way to boost our mental health than by immersing yourself in its splendor. The birdsong that fills the morning air is not just music to our ears, but also a reminder of new beginnings and the promise of a fresh start.
And those daffodils that are poking through? Sure they're pretty flowers; but they're also a symbol of resilience and hope. Watching them grow their way through the earth, climb up into the light and bloom is like witnessing nature's own ebb and flow. It reminds me that even in the darkest of times, there's always light waiting to shine through.
So why not take advantage of this glorious season? It could be a leisurely stroll through a nearby park, opening the windows on warm days to fresh air, digging in the earth and getting ready for the new season, a hike along a wooded trail, or simply sitting in your backyard and soaking up the sights and sounds of spring. There's something truly rejuvenating about connecting with nature.
As you breathe in the fresh spring air and let the beauty of Upstate NY wash over you, you'll find yourself feeling more grounded, centered, and at peace. So go ahead, step outside, and let the wonders of springtime work their magic on your mind and soul.
Wishing you a season filled with joy, growth, and renewal,
Katrin
